Our aim is to help our clients maintain their independence and live a healthier life in their own homes.

The Rural & Remote branch of Spiritus Community Care has been serving the South West region since 1998.

We work closely with hospitals, doctors, referrers, other service providers, community agencies and government departments, caring for our clients.

Our staff are passionate about providing their clients with the highest quality healthcare services possible, and ongoing training and professional development helps ensure we continue to meet the changing needs of our community.

Spiritus is certified to international standards (AS/NZS ISO 9001:200) in the provision of community services and programs and in-home nursing, care services and support

We are continually expanding and developing the range of health and personal care services we can offer in your own home, and promote access and equity for people from rural and remote areas of Queensland.

Personal care services

Spiritus Community Care Roma can deliver friendly, professional support with such daily tasks as:

• personal care (includes showering and bathing)
• light housework
• assistance with self-medication
• laundry
• shopping
• transport to appointments
• meal preparation
• home respite for carers
• day respite care
• social activities

Cost of our services

Government funding contributes towards the cost of services, as do the generous donations we receive from the general public, but we do ask for a small ‘co-payment’ towards the costs of some services, and additional costs for some specialist medical supplies may also apply.

Every one of our clients receives full details of any costs before we begin our caring service. Special consideration is always given to those with limited financial means to ensure they too receive proper care.

Funders and care packages

Spiritus Community Care Roma works closely with other providers to help ensure the best possible care for our clients.

We partner with state and federal government departments to assess the most suitable funded packages for our clients' care needs, including:

CACPs Community Aged Care Packages (ACAT assessment required)

COPs Community Options Program (for the young disabled or frail elderly)

VHC Veterans’ Home Care (for eligible veterans)

EACH Extended Aged Care at Home (specialised Care Plans for individuals)

NRCP National Respite for Carers Program (Centre-based group activities in Thallon)

NRCP National Respite for Carers Program (In-home respite for palliative carers and respite for working carers, either in-home or as a social group)

Spiritus Rural & Remote branch also offers ‘fee-for-service’ care for any services which may not be government-funded.
